Medical Massage at HealthWorks!

by | Jan 9, 2019

HealthWorks is happy to announce that we now offer medical massage! Just like the other services we offer at HealthWorks, our massage techniques have been carefully chosen and curated to bring you the very best- a technique that will actively release muscles and spasms, work to balance your system, and bring lasting results.

Our primary technique, Muscle Energy Technique (MET), is a therapy that uses the gentle muscle contractions to relax and lengthen muscles and normalize joint motion. MET is an active release technique, retraining your body as the muscles release.

MET works so well because when muscles on one side of a joint contract, the opposite muscles must relax. In fact, if a joint is not used to its full range of motion because of muscle restrictions, its function will lessen and it will be at risk of suffering strains and injuries. This form of muscle therapy makes use of a patient’s own muscle energy while the massage therapist presents a resistance.

If you’ve never had a massage like MET before, be prepared for a treat! The technique is very gentle and can often be done fully clothed, so please plan on wearing workout clothes to your appointment. The therapist will guide you through some very gentle, light muscle contractions while working with your body to release the tight spots. Because your body did the work to release the muscles, you’re actually retraining your muscles for better function in the future!

Our therapeutic massage chairs target problem areas through programmable settings for neck, back, and leg relief. The chairs provide consistent pressure and heat therapy that helps reduce muscle tension and improve circulation in affected areas.

Our massage chairs complement your chiropractic adjustments, helping maintain muscle relaxation between visits for better results.

What conditions benefit from massage chair therapy?

Chronic muscle tension, stress-related pain, poor circulation, and general stiffness respond well to regular massage chair use. The chairs help with recovery from daily activities, workplace strain, and exercise-related soreness.

How often should I use the massage chairs?

Most patients benefit from 10-15 minute sessions before or after adjustments. For maintenance between visits, 2-3 chair sessions weekly help maintain muscle relaxation and circulation.
